Seiran (青嵐) — Sculptural Flowering Bonsai (Shohin Size)
Seiran (青嵐), meaning “Blue Mountain Wind,” has a very different character from a traditional upright bonsai. Its appeal comes from the low, sweeping silhouette, thick sculptural base and naturally irregular branch movement, giving the tree a rugged and almost windswept appearance.
The trunk structure is the main feature of this piece. Several heavy sections rise and spread from a compact base, creating depth and visual weight, while the finer branches extend outward to form a wide canopy.
As the foliage develops, the tree becomes much fuller and softer in appearance. During flowering, small blue-violet blooms appear across the canopy, adding a delicate seasonal contrast to the strong, aged structure.
